Unlike Knoxville, Chattanooga does not have a Level IV NICU — Erlanger Baroness runs a Level III NICU and is the regional referral center for high-risk cases across Southeast TN, Northwest Georgia, and Northeast Alabama. Truly complex or extremely preterm cases sometimes route to Knoxville (UT Medical Center) or Nashville.
